About the COGS at UTK


Created in the fall of 2005, the Community of Gerontology Scholars (COGS) brings together gerontology faculty, researchers, clinicians and students with common interests in aging process and health of older adults.

 

Our Mission


The mission of the Community of Gerontology Scholars is to advance knowledge in the fields of gerontology and health sciences by facilitating research and innovative work. This mission is achieved through excellence in research, teaching and service.

 

 

Research and Creative Activities


The COGS fosters interdisciplinary research and facilitate resourcerelocation. The scholars at the COGS, often in collaboration with colleagues in other disciplines and at other institutions, facilitate research and scholarly work related to aging process and health of older adults. Both quantitative and qualitative approaches are used by these gerontology scholars.

 

Service


The COGS provides its expertise to the campus, to professional disciplines, and to the public through service at a regional, national, and international level.
